About Galle
Galle is a beautiful historic fort town on the south coast, founded by the Portuguese and fortified by the Dutch in the seventeenth century. The Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a living old town of cobbled streets, colonial buildings, boutiques, galleries and cafes, all wrapped in sea facing ramparts. It is one of the most charming places in Sri Lanka for a slow wander.
