Udawalawe is a national park best known for its large herds of wild elephants, with sightings almost guaranteed all year round. Its open grassland and reservoir scenery make wildlife easy to spot, and it is also home to the Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned elephants are cared for and released back into the wild.
